If you would like a video guide for this achievement check out my guide bellow. I've tried messing with the in-game ENB menu and raising stuff like 'AmbientLightingIntensityDay', but nothing seems to effect the darkness of shadows. Just to be sure I would make a save before giving him any items. All the ENB's I've tried always make shadows so dark that even during the day, if I'm in the shade it's so hard to see that I need my Pip-Boy light. I can confirm my game did glitch at first but doing it that way allowed me to get the achievement. *WARNING* This achievement seems to have glitched for a lot of people the best way I found to make sure it doesn't glitch is by giving him the pit boy first and make sure its only one, the give him the suit again making sure to only give him one, and then equip the suit and leave the trade screen. Once you give him the items the achievement will pop. Once you have completed that quest you will return to the overseer interviewing 3 possible subjects for her plan, the first 2 wont help but the 3rd one will become her subject and at the point the overseer asks you to suit him up and will tell you to collect the pit boy and the suit to give to him. which you will get by following the DLC's quest line.
For this achievement you need to give a suit and pit boy to a settler at vault 88 you won't be able to do this until you have completed the the quest explore the vault.
